Workout Wear and January Playlist.

1.07.2013

Before I even decide what I am wearing for the day, I decide what I am working out in. My workout style has definitely changed since this post and with good reason. For starters, the big tees got too big, and I found myself literally trapped in all the fabric. While function is always first and foremost in what I work out in, I found myself enjoying my workouts more when I was "dressed up," if you will. As they say, "when you look good you feel good," and that definitely holds true to active wear.

Since I dedicate just as much time (and money) to my workout wardrobe as I do my regular wardrobe, here are some of my tried and true favorites, many on sale this week with the new year!

  Top | UNDER ARMOUR tank
I tend to stick to racer back tanks when working out, especially when it's a "weights day." I have a few basic Old Navy tanks I keep in rotation but I am absolutely loving these tanks by Under Armour at the moment. (And they come in great colors!)

Bottom | OLD NAVY compression leggings
The majority of my workout bottoms are from Old Navy. I find the quality and fit to be exceptional and of course the price can't be beat.

Headband | GOODY headband
My go-to to for keeping my hairs in place and from snagging on the mat. Cheap and they get the job done. Plus they fit my enormous head.

Bra |  PANACHE sports bra
If you have a larger bust, you absolutely need to get this sports bra. For years I wore the standard sports bra which left me uncomfortable with no support and a uniboob. Fed up, I did some research and found that I needed to be wearing an encapsulation style bra. Since Panache became one of my favorites after my bra fitting, I was happy to find that they made this style of bra. I did have a bit of sticker shock initially (they're pricey!) but that went away after my first workout wearing the bra. No bouncing or discomfort and I can do and complete any workout I please without "things" getting in the way.

Shoes | NIKE Free training shoe
I cannot declare my LOVE enough for the Nike Free's. While I did research them, I was really sold on the color combination (black/pink/grey/white.) Sue me, I like pretty things. I love that even though they are super lightweight they are very supportive and comfortable.

Just as important as what I wear is what I listen to while working on my fitness. It's amazing how the right song can take me from almost passing out to completing reps and wanting more. I mostly listen to dance/pop music and my playlist changes monthly (or as soon as I get sick of it, whichever comes first.)  Here is my playlist for the month of January:

What's your workout style and on your playlist this month?

  3. Moving Comfort also makes great supportive sports bras. Running Warehouse has them on sale sometimes - they often have good deals on clothes. I run and I like to feel put together while I "perspire" lol.
