I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!
So maybe this statement is a bit of a half-truth. My closet is a bit on the scarce side (losing weight will do that to you,) but I shop enough on a
So what to do? I had to rule out the option of having Cher Horowitz's closet, even though to this day, I still consider it to be one of my dream closets. Instead, as ironic as the timing may be, I drew inspiration from my time backstage at various fashion shows and the model boards used to keep track of each look. As a highly visual person, the idea couldn't be more fitting! I set out and took pictures of all the items in my closet I haven't worn (most with tags still attached...) and placed them in a central part of my closet.
The goal is to look to Audrey, see what I have first, and if it is fitting for the occasion. As I wear the item, I'll toss the photo. I am hoping this will help me to keep track of what I have and actually wear what I buy. Only time (and outfit posts) will tell if it works or not.
haha yes I have had dreams of cher's closet all my life too, with the little computer program too :)
ReplyDeleteYes! It would make life so easy.
DeleteThat's a pretty good idea! When I wear something, I usually hang it back up (after it's washed, of course) on the left of my closet, so then I pull from the right side. This way, I don't re-wear things too often in a short time period. I know that's totally different than what you're saying, but it made me think of it!
ReplyDeleteWhen I do a closet cleaning, I try to think of the last time I actually wore the item. If it's been over a year, I toss it!
Love this! I love learning how people organize their closets.
DeleteA while ago, my friends and I went through all my draws and put little post its on my clothes with a date on them. If I picked up that article of clothes and found that I had not worn it in 5-6 months, I would donate it. It only happened with a few piece, but it helped me cut the "dead weight" from my closet.

Another great idea! Great to keep things organized.
DeleteI feel like I've already got chers' closet, what with 4 years of outfit photos, I've got records of what is in there, the last time I wore it, and what I wore it with.
ReplyDeletethis does not solve the 'i have nothing to wear' problem. I'm quite certain there is no cure, because I could have two or three outfits planned out (in my head, or written on my computer's sticky notes) and just not feel like wearing them. Your outfit has to match your mood.
Chic on the Cheap
You definitely do have the best closet documentation!
DeleteAnd I agree, there just may be no cure for the nothing to wear dilemma. I love that you write out outfit ideas too!
Great idea! I usually just wear something and put it back in my closet until I want to wear it again and sometimes I even forget I had a clothing item!
