At the Open

9.09.2013

After the fun I had at last year's US Open, I was really hoping that I would be able to attend this year. Well, I got my wish, not once, but twice (Thanks again, Dad!)!! Two full days of tennis in the greatest city in the world? Yes, please. (In case you couldn't tell, I am falling in love with NY all over again, but more on that in a later post.)

Over the two days spent at the Open, I got to see more of the grounds, some of the players in practice, and experience a match in the rain/delay where Rafael Nadal took his shirt off and changed at least three times... From Victoria Azarenka to Serena and Venus Williams in singles and doubles matches, it was a great few days of live tennis, and another memorable year for sure.

Even if your not a tennis fan, I think a day, even just a match, at the Open is worth trying just once. The grounds alone are worth visiting with so much to do, live music, and of course food. (There's a gorgeous Moët & Chandon terrace and a wine/tapas style bar that I'm already planning to try next year...) It's so easy to get caught up in the atmosphere and cheer on whoever is playing, even if you may not know them well or even get the game. It is truly spectacular and like they say "nothing beats being here."

Thanksgiving

it never fails I forget to take a full outfit picture. le sigh...

How was everyone's Thanksgiving? Cooking last year was fun, but I was happy to let my Dad do it this year. I did still contribute to dinner by helping prep and making green beans, cranberry sauce, and gelato. That was enough for me.

This year was the first Thanksgiving where I actually got dressed up as we had family friends over for dinner. Thanksgiving isn't Thanksgiving without a pair of stretchy, comfortable pants, so I was really happy when I came across these ponte knit pants at Target on Wednesday. They are the perfect combination of comfortable but presentable. OK, so they are kind of glorified leggings, not pants, but with a long enough top, they look like pants. Simply put, I love them, and I want to go to Target and buy another pair.

Speaking of shopping, are you scoping out any deals this weekend? I am not one for Black Friday, but  I may browse online later on. (JCP has some amazing deals right now!) Whether you are shopping or spending time with your family, I hope you are enjoying a relaxing weekend!

FOREVER 21 trench and jeans, OLD NAVY chambray shirt, NINE WEST flats, MY ETSY necklace, LONGCHAMP tote

I can't believe just last week the temperatures were flirting near 60 degrees! That little flirtation of spring in the air meant two things for me: wearing a light jacket and breaking out the flats. I forgot just how much I missed wearing flats! It must have been a sight to see, with me in a light jacket and semi exposed feet, and everyone else was in puffer coats/boots/etc. But now that the temps are feeling a bit more winter like, I'm glad I took the chance to embrace "spring" when I did.

Another thing I am really glad I "embraced" was the look of denim and denim. I have a feeling come spring/summer, this is a look I will be wearing a lot, with different shades of denim.

What's the first item you throw on when the weather warms up? Try any new looks lately?

Cure for the common cold

American Eagle Jacket & Flats, Forever 21+tee, Torrid skinnies,  Dior Sunglasses, Random pashmina, Longchamp Le Pliage tote.

Fall is definitely in the air, and even though I am sick (AGAIN) it was nice to enjoy the beautiful weather after class. In addition, for "International talk like a pirate day", Crumbs was offering a BOGO (buy one, get one free) for customers who ordered like a pirate! My friend Angela (who also took this pic, thanks Ange!) and I definitely had a lot of fun being pirates, even if it was only for a few minutes.

So here's to hoping a healthy dose of vitamin d, laughter, and sugar will clear this cold up ASAP.

Hope you all have a wonderful week :)

When bloggers meet.

9.12.2011

Saturday, I had the absolute honor and pleasure of meeting up with one of my favorite bloggers, Nina of XOXO, Nina. It was the first time I had ever met up with a fellow blogger, and I was SO nervous!! Would we hit it off? What would we talk about? Well, all that worrying was for nothing, because we hit it off right away which was such a relief!

We started the afternoon at Saks, where we had lunch (so delicious and amazing views of midtown) and browsed around the store. Since Fifth Ave was closed off, we took advantage of that and the beautiful weather for photos. We then went over to Magnolia, grabbed cupcakes, and finished the day at Starbucks, just talking and laughing the afternoon away. Time surely does fly when you are having fun, because the afternoon just flew by!! It was such a wonderful afternoon, and I hope we get to do it again soon!

Memoirs of an Amazon Geisha

11.21.2010

Unknown dress
Old Navy coat and tights
Target pashmina
Forever 21 ring
Kelsi Dagger shoes

This dress was a bribe gift from my Dad (long story), purchased at a small shop in Miami's Bayside Market, and once I saw it, I fell in love with it. Everyone makes fun of it, but I don't care. Its unique, and unlike anything else I own.

And its not that short, I'm just an Amazon.
